AppDev Patch Readme.txt

This patch upgrades existing systems that have the AppDev Learning
Engine (ALE) 1.0 installed and wish to upgrade to 1.1. Only one 
AppDev course was available for the 1.0 release of ALE: Programming
in Visual Basic .NET. Upgrading the ALE to 1.1 will require this
course to be upgraded as well.

1.0 Upgrade Procedure
****************************

To upgrade the AppDev Learning Engine, execute UpdateALE.EXE and 
follow the instructions on the screen.

To upgrade the AppDev course "Programming in Visual Basic .NET,"
execute VBNAPatch.EXE. At the prompt, specific a temporary folder
in which to unzip the new files. After the files are automatically
upzipped, the UpdateVBNA utility is run. This utility copies the
temporary files into their correct location. Once this process
completes, you can delete the files in the temporary folder.

* NOTE: This list is not an all-inclusive list but simply a list
        of critical files. Most installations include additional 
        files not shown in the list above.

* NOTE: On some systems the SETUPEX.EXE will be 8/29/2003 and
        CKS.EXE will be 7/29/03.

2.2 AppDev Course 
****************************

In situations where the UpdateVBNA utility cannot safely copy the 
files to their proper destination, a manual upgrade must be performed.
To manually upgrade, copy the following files:

10/06/2003  02:44 PM           384,955 Exam.xml
10/08/2003  02:18 PM           125,883 Menu.xml

to the following location (if a typical installation was done, this
folder is in your "C:\Program Files" folder):

AppDev Learning Engine\Courses\Programming in Visual Basic .NET

Then copy the following folders:

\Labs
\PDF

into the same location. DO NOT overwrite these folders! The files 
in these folders are to be combined with the original files.
